UNC Elite

Just got back and settled from Chapel Hill. Today turned out to be a pretty good day. It started out a little rough with the javelin. I was trying to make some changes in my approach/technique and ended up getting very frustrated (needed to do a better job of managing my emotions) throwing just over 56m (185').
I had a 3 hour break until I was scheduled to vault and throw the discus.
The discus is continuing to come along. While there are still improvements to be made, I'm throwing consistently farther and all 3 of my throws were farther than my best from the Clemson multi. 46.10m (151' 3"), 45.24m, 45.10m. I got a little off balance and anxious and fouled my last 3 throws.
I ended the day with the vault. I opened at 4.75m (15' 7") with a first attempt clearance, then 4.90m (16' 1") on 2nd attempt. The bar was then raised to 5.05m (16' 7") which would be a pr and 15cm (6") higher than I've jumped in 3 years. I cleared on my first attempt! I then had some "ok" attempts at 5.20m (17'). Once again ran out of poles which is a good thing and gets me pretty excited about the future. For those vault minds, I'm jumping on 5.0m poles now. Today I jumped on a 14.6 flex and 14.2 flex gripping at 15' 4". I attempted to raise my grip on one of the 5.20m jumps but the pole was just too soft.
I was scheduled to run a 400m at Georgia Tech this weekend and was unable at the UNC meet since they contested only field events at the 800m and up track events. I'm going to run a 328m tomorrow at the track with Brent to get in a race simulation.
Looks like skipping out on Georgia Tech may have been a good decision as it poured down rain there tonight and virtually all events were postponed until tomorrow.
That all for now! Good day at the track!
