Rest.....

This meet didn't come off quite like i had hoped. After day 1 I felt like I put myself in a position to win, which obviously was the goal. Even after the hurdles and a rough discus, 7700+ was still managable. I was warming up for the vault doing a run through and stepped in a crack in the pit and violently sprained my ankle. I heard a loud pop and it hurt pretty badly. I thought initially it was broken. I had it checked out at the hospital and there is no fracture, just a violent sprain. The crazy thing is they have no ice here. It took me 7 hours to find even a pack that was relativel cold so this is not going to get much better until I get back home.
Helwick sucked it up and ran an absolutely amazing 1500m sitting behind ben hazel until 200m to go and then took off beating him by 9 seconds and setting a pr 4:22 after back-to-back meets. That moved him into a tie for 2nd with 7602 but he lost the first tie breaker. Lela also had an impressive meet with her 2nd highest score ever 5925 (would have beaten all girls at world champs!) which placed her 3rd.
