USA Indoors
Heading out today for Chapel Hill for the USA Indoor Combined Events National Championships. The body has been hanging in there. I had a few problems with the bad ankle from last year when we've taken full long and high jumps this year. We were finishing up our hurdle practice on Wednesday when I guess I decided it had been too long since I had fallen over a hurdle (since high school). I crushed the first hurdle, did a few arms circles in the air and slammed on the ground with my right heel/arch hitting first. A very nice bruise, although not visible, hurt pretty badly. Makes me very thankful for the resources I have at Wake Forest with their training staff and doctors. I have Adam Pecina and Anne Bradley to thank for the help. They put me through treatment and got me in to see our podiatrist almost immediately. He shot me up a few times with cortisone (which I don't recommend) and called another doctor for me who is currently fabricating an insole for my spikes to relieve the pressure from my heel and arch. I'm confident I will be good for tomorrow, but only time will tell.
