recap and deacon multi preview
Hope this finds you all doing well. Can't complain down here too much except for the amazing weather system that moved through the end of last week (a tornado actually touched down just east of Winston-Salem)....Crazy!!! I'm continuing to get the kinks out and progress. I competed last Friday at UNC Chapel Hill. While hardly blazing yet, my hurdles improved over .25 seconds to 15.10. The discus also improved over the previous week to 43.65m (just over 143'). The shot put is staying consistent over 15m (49'5") which is right where we need to be. The lackluster performance came in the 200m where I ran a sluggish 23.46. This obviously comes from the lack of running workouts and consistent training over the past 6 weeks, but each race compounds and the times will continue to drop and distances continue to improve. We (Wake Forest) are hosting a Decathlon / Heptathlon tomorrow and Thursday which serves as a Olympic Trials qualifying meet for post-collegiate's. My house is serving as a "bunk house" for some of the athletes. I will not compete in the full decathlon as my opener is scheduled for May 31-June 1 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I will most likely compete in most of the runs, all of the throws and possibly the vault. It's still a bit early for me to high or long jump at competition intensity so I'll sit those events out for sure. Coverage and results can be found on Wake Forest's website (www.wakeforestsports.com). I'll follow-up sometime before the weekend. Thanks for all of your support! God Bless, Chris
